Social Action and Interfaith Engagement
Cathedral Soup Kitchen on Christmas Day
For over 30 years, Beth-El Zedeck congregants have organized volunteers to cook and serve meals on Christmas Day. Volunteers prepare a full turkey dinner in their homes and spend Christmas Day at the Cathedral Soup Kitchen at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral feeding those in need. This example of Tikkun Olam also affords the priceless gift of family time on a special holiday to the regular kitchen workers and exemplifies our synagogue’s continued commitment to the welfare of Indianapolis. Volunteers donate supplies, ingredients, and prepared food in advance and also serve on Christmas Day.
Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build
Each year we work with Habitat for Humanity and many other congregations on their interfaith build.
Kosher to Go
We offer kosher meals Mondays and Wednesdays to homebound members of the Jewish community. If you know of someone in need of this service or if you can volunteer to deliver meals monthly, please contact Jennifer Hodes in the synagogue office at email@example.com or (317) 253-3441. This program is made possible through the Sidney Maurer Memorial Fund to Feed the Hungry.
